What you need to be successful in this role:

The Network Engineer position is focused on maintaining the technology integrity and functionality of the PCI’s core network infrastructure components used in the support of connectivity for our employees and our clients. This position helps the business achieve optimum use of their computer networks by performing needs analyses, procurement support, installation, monitoring, training, and problem resolution for the core network infrastructure components. The Network Engineer is responsible for the configuration, daily operation, and administration of all core network infrastructure hardware, associated operating systems and communication links. Core technologies covered by the Network Engineer include, but are not limited to, switching, routing, load balancing, IP schema’s, firewalls, circuits, and VPN connectivity.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

• Provides day-to-day and 24x7 steady state support services for all core network technologies.
• Implements and maintains switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, remote access systems, security appliances, wireless systems, internet connections and private line services.
• Participates in root cause analysis determination and recommends product enhancements or other appropriate actions to improve reliability and functionality.
• Designs, configures, maintains, and manages network security features to achieve optimal performance, maximum availability, minimal maintenance, and reasonable costs.
• Performs customization and system administration for network management, task/project management, help desk, work group integration and documentation on core network technologies.
• Provides support for the successful integration of voice, data, and video services across all core network technologies.
• Collaborates with the business on new hardware and software installations/upgrades.
• Analyzes, recommends, and evaluates new hardware, software, and communications products to enhance functionality in support of the business. Keeps current on developments and techniques in information technology.
• Develops, maintains, and updates a library of technical documentation.
• Works with cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of information technology.
• Responsible to understand the need to protect confidential PCI information, protected health information and any other confidential client information, applying information security principles when dealing with such information.
• Responsibility to understand the PCI and Client systems availability SLAs, security, and compliance process, procedures, and reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent work experience considered.
• CCNA or equivalent hands on experience considered (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued)
• Understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
• Hands-on experience with Next Generation Firewall technology
• Ability to effectively communicate effectively to customers and coworkers.
• Ability to maintain your own work schedule and function with little supervision.
